Why Southern California water runs this hard?
Most homes across LA, Orange County, and the Inland Empire test between 7 and 20+ grains per gallon — solidly in "hard" to "very hard" territory. That's not a fluke of your city's system; it comes from where the water starts. A large share of the region's supply is imported Colorado River water, which is naturally rich in dissolved calcium and magnesium by the time it reaches the aqueduct.
